Seems to be available for US users but at the moment not for UK usersI'm not on my Mac so can't say if the download is available for UK folks from the App Store. Just remember, backup your stuff first. Mark

Just run some updates on my fathers Mini, and the App Store defaulted to a screen punting El Capitan. I'm tempted to give it a go.

I really need to re-install OS X after I managed to completely bork it recently. I'll try and find time at the weekend, and I'll see if El-Cap is available for the Hackintosh yet.

Yes it is. Seems to be being offered as a separate 'app' rather than an update though.

That's normal. It's not really an "update" in the way point releases are.

Also handy to have the installer app in case you need to build a USB boot drive.

Which is what I do. I also have three machines to update so having the installer on the network is a much quicker way to get all machines updated than it is to have to download it three times. Mark

I see Disk Utility has had an upgrade. I discovered this, as I was wondering where my Time Machine drive had gone. ION, I'll be shopping for a new 2TB external drive on pay day.

Also, it's apparently the last OS that will support the Java 6 SE which various versions of Adobe's CS apps require.
