Post subject:  Powerbook G4 question
Hi

Has anyone had the problem where the keyboard stops working but it works OK with an external keyboard and mouse? It's fine when I boot but if I leave it a few minutes the keyboard stops responding. The power key works alright so I can force it to shut down.

Think it's on it's last legs myself.

The 'it takes a few minutes' part does suggest a heat related issue - possibly a dry joint or worn connector? It definitely implies a hardware fault though. On a powerbook G4, that may very well be a write-off whatever it is.

While I think that you can get a keyboard to replace it with I would save the money and replace the machine as soon as possible. Though you will be amazed how long you can run an Apple with a fault.
