I've been using my VM 3G dongle on my macbook whilst on holiday and images on the web appear to be showing at a reduced quality.
Are these being compressed by the service provider or is it something in Firefox?

On my T-mobile dongle, the images used to be compressed. Fantastic when loading an image-heavy page and you didn't need to look at the images. There was a key-combo which reloaded the pics with the uncompressed version. Compressing the images is a way of preserving bandwidth and makes sure you don't go over your 2GB limit or whatever too quickly.
