I just got a free upgrade to the iPhone today. I have a couple of questions. If you have an iPhone please let me know.

Thanks!

Well first I'm assuming it doesn't pick up any contacts on your sim and just takes them from the contact book on your mac? (if so I'll have to add a load ggrr)

Secondly if you want the phone to be on quiet I guess you just turn the volume down on side? Can't find anything like profiles.

I had to go on youtube to find out how to put in the sim lol.

Thats all at the moment but I'm sure there will be more.

Flick the switch on the left-hand side (as your're looking at the screen). That'll put it on vibrate mode only.

Use the free "paperclip" to push the little hole at the top to release the sim holder.

You have to use an 02 3G sim.

I copied my old sim contacts in to Outlook then imported that in with itunes. You can do the same with mac mail I think

Right next q, so now I have loads of dupes in address book. Is there a quick way to check and delete them or do I have to do it manually? If I change them on phone will it synch to address book on mac ok or does it matter whether you do it on computer or phone?

with the caveat that Im a PC user I have found when I sync with itunes any "added" contacts are sorted out, the duplicates are removed leaving only the newest information.
I dont know if this happens on the Mac side maybe one of the Maccies can confrm this. 8-)

There is a way to do it automatically from Address Book.

Card>Look for duplicates.

Best to make a backup first though as it leads to a one shot merge of all the duplicates.

I also found this gem.

Quote:
You can manually merge cards too. Shift/Command-click the cards to merge, then choose Card > Merge Selected Cards. This is a safer approach as no contact details are overwritten (Look for Duplicates tends to overwrite one card’s field with the same field from the second card, which is a bit of a bug methinks - this is in Mac OS 10.5.6).

How many iPhone users would be interested in an iPhone theme for the site?

There's probably one available, and if my fellow iPhone users here would also use one then I'll post a suggestion in the Ideas thread.
