LOL!

I agree with Dave that they should have not released the touch and showed it with the camera and a line saying "Released Decmeber 09" or something.

Releasing it without a camera when everyone knows there is one coming with a camera is stupid.

Apparently, there is space on the circuit board for a camera.

The argument I have read is that a still camera is deeper than the video camera in the new Nano, so there is not enough room to put one in. I am not so sure - surely the iPhone is pretty packed up with extra things like phone and Bluetooth circuitry, and that has a camera.

Yes, but isn't the iPhone much thicker than the Touch?

The iPod Touch has Bluetooth as well...

And my iPhone is about twice as thick as my iPod Touch...

Some good points in this article - seems to suggest that the camera was all set to appear in the latest models but was pulled at the last moment due to manufacturing problems.

iFixit has a report on one that they're ripped apart, and there's the space inside that could be for the camera, plus the wireless chip apparently supports 802.11n networks - the older model was just 802.11g/b. Though I can't see that making much difference in a device that you're just viewing web pages with no Flash content. I guess the YouTube videos will load in faster, though, on a 802.11n connection (if you have the router).

The router? Router schmouter! It is the internet connection! Most currently are less than one fifth the capacity of an 11g connection... :?

802.11n will improve the wireless range dramatically but g has a through put of over 20Mbit/s.

If you're on a 10Meg connection at lunch time (peak time) you'll be getting about 4 to 5 meg max (maybe).

802.11n has a 144Mbit/s throughput which makes little difference to the internet connection. It will improve the speed of transfer over the local network though (i.e. err... can you use WiFi to sync the iPod?)

Err, no. That would be "cheating"... :?

Synching without a cable connected to a single PC is WRONG! The fact that I use 3 PCs on a daily basis, with the same synchronised information on it doesn't seem to matter to Apple, there is no reason I could possibly want to sync my iPod or iPhone to whicherver of my computers I happen to be sitting in front (let alone wirelessly), I must sit at the one where I made the first synchronisation... :?
