I've got a hankering for a new GPU. I can get £90 for my current one in Cex, making this a matter of £70 to upgrade, but I know there are DX11 parts around the corner. What I've read on DX11 points to a fair amout of backwards compatibility, plus the inevitably slow development cycle for games means anything DX11 will be a good 6 months to a year before they start to show up. The 275 has 240 shaders compared to my 192 and benchmarks a fair bit higher than the 216 version...
Decisions decisions! Please help!

Does your 260 do what you need it to? If it's marginal, can you overclock it (if you haven't already), and squeeze a little more performance out of it?
I think it's easy to into "shiny gadget syndrome", and buy something that you don't need to. I've been guilty of that myself, in the past.

Well, the deed is done. The new card - a Pallit GTX 275 with a custom cooler, makes games that were marginal before (Clear Sky, GTA4, Cryostasis etc) comfortable at maximum settings at 1680x1050. A new CPU/Mobo & RAM are on the cards for a few months time, so they should get on with the new card just fine.

perhaps, but i heard that the 57XX series will be released pretty soon, and will likely be round the same price point as the current cards.

I'll be waiting to see what Nvidia's DX11 parts are like, then buying the gen 2 ones, depending on finances. Right now, my CPU is the biggest bottleneck and that needs to be replaced first..

i wouldnt hold your breath - apparently they are having some trouble with early yields (1.7%?), so will probably be horrendously expensive when they are released :/ not that nvidia need an excuse to set ridiculously high launch prices *EDIT* only just noticed that link was borked, oops!!

The Intel HD4500 chipset graphics are more than enough in my laptop - driving the internal 1680x1050 15" panel and an external 24" panel in dual head mode.

Yeah well, they usually come good in the end, having the fastest single card in most generations, whilst being cooler running, quieter and using less power.
