Actually this is just a 'happy coincidence'. Entourage Web Services Edition exists because all their corp clients complained like mad when Exchange 2007 Sp1 pretty much broke entourage/exchange functionality. They were using WebDAV to connect to exchange and Exchange 2007 Sp1 deprecated WebDAV in favour of their own Exchange Web Services.

MS have recently transferred/upgraded all their hotmail servers to Exchange 2010, which (obviously) also uses Exchange Web Services. Therefore, all Hotmail accounts are now basically Exchange accounts, so Entourage WS edition will work with them again.

Just in time for Entourage to be discontinued on the Mac.

But, if I've understood Jon correctly, anything that can now access exchange accounts (due to the 10.6 upgrade) can also access hotmail, now that MS have started using Exchange 2010 on their servers.

Anyone would think this was a new feature.
Outlook Express/Entourage used to be able to access Hotmail accounts (back in the days of Office 98 IIRC) until MS decided to remove the feature as a 'security' measure. Now they are trumpeting putting that functionality back.

Actually, that's a good point, yes you should.
Hold on...
Hmm.. you probably should be able to, but Mail won't let you. If you try to set up a hotmail account, it automatically assumes it's a POP/SMTP account rather than an exchange account.

If you have a windows live registered domain, it could be worth trying it with that. Let's see... No, that doesn't work either, they don't set up an 'autodiscover' subdomain for live registered domains.

I suspect if you know the actual windows live 'pod' your account is hosted on (look at the URL once you're logged in), you could set up an exchange account with that as the host and it would work. But someone else can try that.

Does anyone actually use Entourage? I certainly don't. Apple Mail is excellent. I cannot fault it. Though I would imagine businesses may use it to connect to their mail servers.

I can fully understand not having Garageband installed. I have it installed but cannot remember when I last opened it. iChat is another that I have only opened once, but again have not deleted it.
