Hi all,
I've got some photos and want to crop them, but I want to keep them to a certain proportion so that when I resize them they will fit nicely into 6"x4" or other size. Is there any way to do this in Photoshop CS4?
Many thanks, Ben

I'm no expert but could you not create a new image with a given size canvas and then paste the orginal image onto it in it's own layer.
You should then be able to reposition the pasted layer and then save it as a jpg which will only take the bits inside the canvas area.
Like I say, I'm no expert so there may be a far simpler way but I'd try that.

Cheers Oli, seems a bit long winded but it'll do for now, I've got tonnes of images and this Mac I'm using has such little RAM....Grrrr...

You can also make the marquee tool specific sizes/ratios. Work out what the pixel dimensions are of your 6x4 print and use those to dictate the size of the marquee. Then select Crop and see if you like it, undo it if you don't. Simples.

If you use the Crop tool, you can input the fixed size you want. Even in inches if required. Equally simples.

You can set this up in Automator, you know. There is a Crop Images option, and you can set the initial scale, how it crops etc..
