Well as far as being much prettyer and and the number 4 being changed to number 5 what has been changed?

Im finding it hard to find decent info on the interwebs about this new card as its mostly nerd getting excited and spinning bulshish to me,
can anyone tell me what makes this worth the extra million pounds compared to its predecessors :D

Cheers guys Brad :P :D :geek:

Slight Revision: This card seems a lil longer than its younger sister The 4890 is this a problem ? 8-)

Without wanting to promote Bit-Tech, I know there's a few still a bit sore from the merger. There 5870 preview does a pretty good job of explaining with some hard figures from games as backup. So take a look at that brad.

The 5870's major selling point is DX11 compatibility, so it has a tesselator and a compute shaders, but as DX11 games are like rocking-horse poo - we might see 3 titles before Christmas (Dirt 2, and urr......), it seems like a bit of a waste, and a bit of a gamble on it being a good DX11 card. That said, it has better power consumption than the 48-series cards it replaces.

There was a falling out because Dennis publishing wanted to split a community of different users who actually liked eachother, splitting PC Pro and Mac User people and lumping CustomPC readers with a bunch of over-privilaged pre-teen American's.

Aha but there are currently no games with DX11, so why waste loads of cash now when we could wait untill we need DX11 and the price by then will be much cheaper :D

Kinda Common Sense :P

I mean who will realy buy this card, the day it comes out lol   :ugeek:

It has partial support apparently, but the engine being used has always had that slightly "out of focus" look about it and early screenshots are no different. Plus the game was developed for consoles that are firmly in DX9 territory, so it is going to be another case of DX9 with bits tacked on.

A 260? Why are we buying inferior cards now? Jesus, I'd rather keep my 4870 than buy a 260.
