Nero's burning suite is available for Linux distributions in version 4, I think the cost is around €20... I'll do some more checking, saw an article in c't this week.

That said, why would you want to pay for Nero, when you have K3b... :?

Both K3b (my favourite) and Brasero are excellent.

Have never needed an extra disc burning package for Ubuntu - iso's burn from the desktop, every other disc can be burned from Brasero. It's only Windows that needs overly bloated 3rd party apps to perform basic functions.

this not just about burning software that is available to the Linux system
this is about a large sized player porting its software to the Linux platform

I completely agree with that sentiment.

However, so many people who currently choose an open source OS will also choose open source applications. It's a chicken / egg situation. Until there are more "normal" users, the market for commercial software on Linux is limited. However, until there is more commercial software available, the appeal of Linux will be limited.

*queue tirade of open-source fanatics listing software normal people never heard of*

I'll unashamedly admit part of the attraction of Linux for me is the fact that the OS and subsequent software is provided gratis.

iTunes will be the tipping point I'm sure - there's an awful lot of iphone and ipod users out there who either can't activate their iphone through linux or don't have a familiar interface for their tunes.
