Hi all, I don't have an internet connection just yet but thought I'd set up my Mail accounts on the Mac Pro, except it sat there for around five minutes with "Mail is not responding" in the Activity Monitor...After around five minutes it jumped into action..There is no mail in it yet, it's a completely unused application. I've restarted the Mac and Mail was the first thing I launched, same problem again... I have Snow Leopard on my old MacBook, so the same version of Mail, just the 32-bit version, and it all works fine on that...Why would it take so much longer on the Mac Pro? Do you have a mail account set up on the Mac Pro? If so, it is probably a network timeout that is stalling the process. Mail will keep the beachball spinning until it has successfully contacted the configured mail server(s). If one isn't available or is responding slowly, then it will take longer. Either disable the account / set it to download manually until you have a network connection. Probably also worth checking to see if there is an off-line working mode. It could be that a MBP has the flag set, because it could often be away from a network, whilst the MP assumes it will always have the network connection. If there isn't an account set up for it (have you migrated your settings from your MacBook?), then try creating another user account, it could be a corrupt profile. If it starts instantly on another account, then I'd look at deleting the Mail database for the user that isn't working and let it start over. |

Hmmm, where is the Mail database? I set up an account for the purple one and it seems to jump up straight away.... |
