Hey guys i dont know if this should be in this section of the forum but its kinda a big help i need.

Got my xbox at xmassand ive kinda donated it to my bro and he wants me to flash the firmware.

Well i said k and i cracked this piece of SH&* open to find i was faced with a Lite-On DG-16D2S drive *NOT GOOD* :(

Apparently i need a probe or something that can retrieve a DVD Key before i can go ahead and update the firmware :(

The only porblem is all the quides on the interwebs are telling me to buy a CK3 probe and i dont wana spend more money on my Brother!

Any help to how i can (bypass the key or retrive it without moding, would be best) or if i have to make my own mod probe how would i go about it

Any help you be greatly Appriciated

Regards Brad :)

Do you really think talking about bypassing copyright protection by flashing hardware and asking for help to do so is a smart thing to do?

Go to afterdark or google ffs

Are you trying to be coy or something? It is incredibly obvious what you are trying to do asking how to do this because you need the DVD drive key which is used for decoding and communicating with the motherboard

Circumventing copyright protection IS breaking the law
You are asking how to flash a drive which is used for reading game discs and to change the firmware which will then allow 'backups' to be played... it is very obvious what it is for or you would not need to flash a dvd drive firmware on a console.

Indeed, civil law. In this instance Criminal Law would only become involved should he decide to advertise his 'jail-breaking' technique or perform 'jail-breaking' in the course of a business/not for domestic use.

I never said it was criminal/civil, was making it clear as from the rules:
