Dear All,

I need your help on this one - please

My manager just brought his Dell laptop running XP to me say it stoped working after he plug in his 3G USB thingy

When you turn the computer on it loads into windows XP and from the logo onwards the screen is just back apart for the mouse pointer that is still white and moves

The same things happen if you boot into safe mode also - apart from screen saying safe mode etc

I gone through the bois screen and everything looks in place and thats display corectlly

tomorrow I planing in bring in a live lunix disk to see if that works

have fun

Mark

Have you tried booting the Last Known Good configuration?

Looks like it's rebuild time (just dealt with a similar issue for a customer)

I was hoping not to go there - like most people he has not back ups and he want all his data back - could a repair do it? or is it too far gone?

Worth trying a repair. Got nothing more to lose now.

You can always use a Linux Live CD to rescue the data before reinstalling Windows.
