I have just taken over looking after a small web site which was built with frontpage from microsoft.
I dont have frontpage so am looking for an alternative. Does anyone any good suggestions.
I have notepad which may work but it also may fail on some parts of the site.

It very much depends on how complicated the website is, what it's been done in an what you need to do with it.

If it's a simple html site and you only need to make simple changes, then a good text editor is probably all you need. I recommend pspad which is like notepad but with extras to make html a little easier to read and it has a preview button. If it was done in FP, then it's likely to be ugly html. I'd start with pspad and delete as much as you can.

If you want a wysiwyg, then Kompozer is pretty good:

On the other hand, if it's all in asp then you're best off with Visual Studio .NET

Also consider Notepad++. I don't think it has a preview function, but it's my preferred text editor on Windows.
