Firstly welcome to the forums That's worrying, but I'm sure you will get over it. Sitting in a quiet darkened room tends to help. Can you confirm what version of windows, what version of IE and is there a critical reason for using IE? Most people on here tend to use Firefox instead. Do you have the installation disk for Windows? Alun

Ok thanks for that extra info. Now some more please.
Does the problem occur in different places or just one?
When the problem occurs
How are you trying to connect to the internet?
Cable / Wireless?
LAN / Router
If so what is the router you use?
Do any other computers connect by the same method and do they have problems?

Sadly answering all those questions has confirmed it is an OS issue not even a browser specific issue. Vista is not an OS I have any experience with at all I'm afraid.

If it just happens on facebook it may be your java needs updating (stupid lazy facebook coders). Try running a Windows update.

Ok, step back and ask more questions time. Have you tried installing FireFox, to see if FaceBook works on that? You said you don't have a Windows disk. Did you... Buy the laptop new or second hand? Get any disks at all with it? Have some sort of programme installed that will let you make a recovery disk? (I was working on a Compaq last night and the programme was called something like Backup Manager) Have you been running it for a while - I find that re-installing Windows every 6 months or so helps to keep it sprightly. OK, enough questions for now... Oh, and welcome to the forums. Any friend of Carolyn's is a friend of ours, (though that should probably read has good reason to be afraid of us) :p :etc:

That's the problem with reading posts on a mobile phone when you are tired and not feeling well. I think the rest of the questions are still valid though.

Last time I had this problem with Vista (friends machine), it got steadily worse and nothing fixed it except her HP recovery disc. Re-format and re-install would do it though.
Sorry I can't be any more help. That should work though.
