I usually use Macs, but a potential query has arisen. I’ve been asked by someone who quite possibly cannot afford me to design a web site. There is family connections here, so I can’t just tell him to piss off and stop wasting my time.

As well as the usual money extracting tasks I can do for him, the other option is to set him up with some software. If he was using a Mac, I can think of two or three apps which will do the job and shield him from the ugliness of HTML. There are a couple of apps for the Mac which work with templates. There is iWeb which ships with every Mac, as well as RapidWeaver (http://www.realmacsoftware.com/rapidweaver/) and Sandvox (http://www.karelia.com/). These are Mac only. Are there any similar Windows apps out there?

At the moment, there are a number of options, depending on what he wants and what he can afford. I’ll know more hopefully next week, but right now I’m looking for options.

nVu is the standard free one for the Windows market. I used it a long time ago and it seemed pretty good.

Actually if I'm doing stuff on Windows it tends to be Visual Studio
