As I'm going to be doing a HD swap on a friends laptop, I've suggested he gets a 2.5" caddy for the 100GB drive we're swapping.
Anyone got a recommendation?
Bus powered would be nice.

All 2.5HDD caddies should be bus powered really. Is it IDE or SATA ? If its IDE, PC World (don't panic) do the Akasa one as cheap as anyone.

Cheers, it's a SATA drive. Would like something reasonably robust that's going to survive being knocked about on a commute.

Those ones are metal, they don't squish in when pressed like some caddies do.

I've got an icybox one and it's as hard as nails

Cool, thanks fellas, I'll look at Icybox (I have a 3.5" IDE FW enclosure of theirs and I like it) and Akasa then. :)

I've got an icybox too and it's rock solid! Metal the whole way round, and far too many screws!!

It's just arrived today - went for a slightly cheaper one from eBuyer.

2 screws that locate the drive interface, nice tough metal enclosure, plastic end caps. I think it'll be ok. If not, it's hardly much to replace if it does give up the ghost.
