Post subject: | Which Windows 7 for me? |
Hi all, I'm expecting that from my other thread about Windows XP, that I may need to upgrade to Windows 7 to make use of the hardware available (or at least Win Vista). So, my requirements are: - Must run on my Mac Pro (2xXeon 5500's, 8GB RAM, NVidia GForce GT 120) - Must be able to run the following games: ---- Roller Coaster Tycoon ---- Sim City 3000 ---- Baulder's Gate ---- Broken Sword (1 & 2) ---- The Sims 2 ---- Steam's CSS, Half-Life, etc That's about it I think... I've got no idea what the difference is between the versions really...My copy of Win 7 Pro doesn't seem to like Sim City 300 though, it crashes part way through the game... Many thanks, Ben |

Win 7 64-bit Pro installs...But that may be where my problem lies... I'm not entirely sure what Boot Camp does, I just thought Boot Camp was a bootloader plus tools to make the Mac keyboard play nice...? |

I thought Bootcamp provided all the drivers etc? |

Yes, it gives drivers too. But at some stage, Win 7 will be supported properly by boot camp. When that happens, what will be my best course of action? |

Alright, no worries. I'll ask elsewhere. |

You should be alright with Home Premium I would have thought. |

Home Premium should be fine, unless some of your apps require XP - then you can use Professional and get the XP Mode add-on*. Full Windows 7 support is due immenetly with the next patch for BootCamp (not sure if it is SL only or also Leopard and Tiger). * note: The XP Mode uses a VM to enable support for old applications which are poorly written. However, it isn't really a solution for games, as graphics performance will be severly degraded. |
