Hi guys,

I'm looking for something to replace my scribblings that I put into a work book and tend to lose.

When developing I often read through code first to see where it goes and write down the bits I need to look at. Then when I'm coding I'll jot things down to loko at later or different things I need to make sure happen/don't happen etc...

What I'd like is a piece of software in which I can create a "project" and in it I can add to-do tasks, or notes, etc...

I could do this in Wordbut I'd like something in which I can easily move things around and tick things off once I've done them.

I'm not even sure what ... erm ... genre (?) of software I'm after. If anyone knows this could you let me know and I'll have a google.

Thanks!

How about a mind map

This lets you connect various parts together and you can link to do lists off each major part

I know it's not Windows software, but to help me get an idea of what you're asking - are you looking for something a bit like OmniFocus or OmniOutliner for Mac? I'm thinking more of the latter than the former, I think.

Hi,

The mind map thing is definitely something that could work.

I think the Omni could be exactly what I was looking for. Both of those programs look like they would work.

Is there any equivalent for Windows?

I don't know, sorry. Omni write Mac-only stuff, so it won't be from them if there is one.

Would that be One Note? Not sure exactly what it does (I think it's kind of note-taking/collaboration-y stuff, so possibley what you want), and if you are or know a student/someone with a *.ac.uk e-mail address then you can get it for £37 as part of Office 2007 Ultimate.
