well i finally got my i7 cpu and Dominator RAM from scan yesterday, rushed home fitted it all smoothly enough. Turned onthe power and everything switched on even the screen but no bios.... after 3 hours of messing about i have come to the conclusion that the 3rd slot on the my Foxconn Bloodrage GTI is faulty as it works fine with any of the 3 stick in any of the 1st 2 Dimm slots, as soon as any of them are in the 3rd ....nothing! So ive got an RMA set up with ocuk , i ll get it sent back hopefully today so ill keep you updated with their level of service as i know its not meant to be the best ![]() Anyone had any other problems like this before with a brand new i7 board? i couldnt find much at all online which leads me to believe its just a one off faulty board. |

Had a similar issue with an Asus board. Scan sorted it in no time. OCUK on the other hand are a nightmare to deal with. |

bad news and good news..... having taken the mbo out the case and stripped it etc.... theres a pin MISSING ( notice the not bentpart of that comment! ) and some of the diaganal contacts next to this missing pin are bent in an upwards direction! phoned ocuk to explain and basically the guys exact words were "sorry sir you ve had it more than 7 days, i cannot advise you any further, you warrenty is void!" so im onto trading standards now to see what they can do if anything, but on a better note, i found a phone number forfoxconns uk technical centre and luckily the guy i got on the phone was Carl Brunning, Head of technical support/sales for Europe, so he s going to RMA the board personally from his office to the RMA centre in Holland and get me a new board! What a gent and -1 for OCUK +10 for foxconn service, i will from now on ONLY be using SCAN and recommend ppl stay well clear of OCUK unless youre going to inspect everything. when i was fitting the cpu i noticed the pin missing but given that there was no pin at all i thought this was how it was meant to be...... |

As this was my first ever dodgy component, i was never really worried about who i bought from but after this experiance it will solely be scan now! i cant beleive that companies have the right to just say "broken pin =no warrenty" as i know the pins are very fragile but on an intel cpu you can only fit it one way and theres only so gentle you can be with it, i can understand if i was constantly changing cpus etc you might one day drop something onto the pins but for 1 to be totally missing, there isnt even any of the diagonal facing strips next to it just a perfect square black hole i thought they might have taken it back for examination but they totally wernt interested in helping me out, i had to find the foxconn telephone number myself too! I ll update once i receive my board/bad news lol.... Carl said not to worry as he wuld be sending it back himself so theirs no way they would turn his RMA down so heres hoping all goes well! |

Two phrases you should research further: Distance Selling Regulations Sale of Consumer Goods Act The OCUK guy's talking out of his arse. |

DSRs aren't going to help if he's had it more than 7 working days. If you've only had it 7 calendar days then you're fine. Although in this case you're looking at S.14 of the Sale of Goods Act 1979, goods when supplied are not of satisfactory quality. |

I've only had to RMA one item with OCUK - a motherboard that was DOA. I didn't have a problem, although I've heard quite a few peeps complaining about them. Am I one of the lucky few then? |

Why ever not? Your contract is with them, the mobo is no good therefore you get a new one or a refund, end of. I really, really despise retailers who try to fob you off to the manufacturer. It gets on my tits. |

Scan generally send to the manufacturer on your behalf as it's quicker to do if they won't cover it, you generally get a better result from a B2B too. If you bent the pins yourself you aren't entitled to a new one, bent pins would be apparent when it was purchased. I got one that was an RMA returned one by accident and they sent out a replacement straight away and collected the old one at no charge. They do have good customer service, it's when the first account fails that can be a problem of where to go from there. |

I had that happen with Samtron (Sub-dividsion of Samsung I think) monitor many moons ago. The retailer just said "you have to go to the manufacturer". So, I rang them up, explained it to the guy at Samtron. After explaining that they could and would do it, but it would take a while; he said "just go back to them and if they try to fob you off again, use my name and give them my number, then tell them I will put them on to our legal dept". ![]() It worked, I got an immediate replacement. ![]() |

Fair enough if you bent the pins yourself, but if they arrived bent Scan have no case. |

my annoyance with ocuk in this case is the fact that the pin and "diagonal contact" are missing full stop, thier not bent just not bloody their! Luckily i got the right chap from foxconn at the the right time who is hopefully going to solve my issue but definetly buyers beware! |
