Advent 9117 Laptop Drivers?

Post subject:  Advent 9117 Laptop Drivers?
Hi all, I have been given an Advent 9117 laptop to format but there are no drivers for it, does anyone have a driver set they could send me for this please, everytime I install windows I get a Status error code with the black screen and its different everytime.

So when I install vista if I just load all of these drivers before the install it should work yeah?

I mean if I take the vista cd out and put the driver disk I made in to load the drivers then remove the driver disk and put the vista disk to continue install does it still get the drivers?

No, you would need to install Vista, then install the drivers, usually starting with the chipset drivers, as they would activate the USB/Ethernet etc... unless Vista has the drivers built in.

Vista wont install it just keeps giving me a status error. Is it possible to connect the laptop hard drive to my desktop, install windows 7 (although I dont know if it will work on this laptop but if vista did then 7 should right?) then put the hard drive back into the laptop and then install those drivers....is this even possible?

Try XP before you do that. It installs on just about anything. If it fails, you know the laptop is farked and it's only fit for the bin. Or Linux. :D

I'd go for win7 over XP everytime. If the laptop could handle Vista then it will easily handle Win7

No, I mean that if it's the laptop itself whats broke, XP will usually find these out and BSOD during the install process.

sounds like there is something wrong with your vista disk or the laptop itself.

I would never have thought of that. :shock:

I think he's right you know... a problem with the disc, (it should be spelt with a "C" by the way, as disK is actually short for Diskette) or a problem with the laptop... good thinking that man! ;)

If it isn't either of the above then it's probably something else. :P :lol:
