Do you hear any "beeping" sounds when you turn it on? The fans may be running but that don't mean anything else is. Have you checked all the cables especially the hard drive ones - your motherboard probably also uses TWO power leads - the 24pin fat one and also a 4-pin one that goes (usually) near the cpu slot. |

The buzzing may just be the normal PSU noise ![]() Does the hard drive spin up also? A while ago I had a similar thing and my PC would not show anything on the screen, it would get as far as spinning up the HDD and CD drives but it would not beep (as JohnSheridan is probably thinking) to say it completes the Power-On-Self-Test (the "POST" beep, but that sometimes isn't enabled in the motherboard settings). It turns out my RAM had gone west. (I went to the effort of checking my screen, motherboard and graphics card, then took it to a PC shop and the guy chucked in a new stick of RAM and off it went, no problems ![]() |

In addition check that the graphics card and RAM DIMMs are seated correctly. Not that I speak from experience or anything... ![]() |

yes it is a 24pin and an 4pin they are both plugged in. the antec 850w psu I have in my gaming rig doesnt make that sound. tried a different hdd still same thing. i was using the hdmi output on the pc may try the dvi one. will check the ram when i get back all seems normal and that post noise does happen. shall i try an graphics card separately to see if that makes a difference. boothy |

I would try the DVI port next - they may be switched in the BIOS. |

You made sure the HSF is properly secured? Sounds like something's overheating to me. |

Or possibly shorted out, which would explain the buzzing sound of overloaded coils. Double check every cable is correct and not chafed on the casing. Something simple like plugging in the case LEDs incorrectly can short out the power. Try booting with everything disconnected except the graphics, memory, power switch and processor to see if you can get into the bios. |

Hi, are you sure all the m/board stand offs are in the correct place? if not they could short the board. |
