Currently have a Samsung 226BW Samsung, TN for general use and an IBM T221, which I am squinting to look at, its 22" and native resolution is 3840x2400 (not a typo),

it has quite a few duff pixels too.

Want to spend about £700. Been told to look at the Apple LED one, but it won't work with my gear and gets a bad rap from Pro Photo people for the sickly gloss and inconsistencies in the LED backlighting. Dell 2709W seems to be popular, can't stretch to a 30" !!!!

Welcome to the forums.

What resolution do you need?

Thanks. I suppose anything over the 226BW's 1680 res would be nice. The IBM was not really supposed to be used for general use. But you can open up 8mp photos on it and work on them, if you stick your face right up to the monitor.

Wondering if its pointless having 1920 res on a 27, when you can get a 24 with the same ?

I'd say 24" would be better for 1920x1200 res (due to better dot pitch/pixel size).
HP did a great 24" for £500 but it's been discontinued & I'm trying to find the replacement to test.

There's 489 of them coming into distribution on the 7th Jan. They're on top value as well use part code KD911AT#ABU for a discount (looking like £362 + VAT trade)

After reading up, and the fact I wear bins, the 2709W looks like the choice of lots of Pro's on decent camera forums, so I think that should be ok for me, picked one up today, 1 week old....saved £264 on Dell's price and £100 on places like Overclockers.
