Had a Macbook turn itself off as soon as it boots? I booted OK from external and have managed to t mode it. Now get a warning THIS MAC CANNOT BE FIXED ON THIS MACHINE. BACK UP YOUR WORK OR BE DAMNED. WATCH OUT CAPTAIN SPARROW WILL GET YOU!! or something. I'm backing up all the work in terminal now and hoping I can reformat and reimage using that crapola image the US have provided. Oh and guess what? I only have until 6pm tonight to do it all! bah & meh! Still... at least I got some good tuneage on my ipod ![]() |

The Mac with the higher version of OS has to be the one that goes in to Disk Mode and the other has to play host. I've never had anything like that message before, but it's pretty cool (though admittedly not from your perspective). Sorry I can't be of more help. (8+( Mark |

Going to try and erase and reimage now - will keep you posted. LOL @ error message, thought I'd spice it up a bit. Wouldn't it be cool if Apple did that? Do you remember when they used to say 'it's not my fault'. Well who the hell's fault is it?? My mate had furbies next to her work macs and they ended up saying it too. |

Sounds like a virus...Though I'd be tempted to say it's a rogue Apple engineer having some late night fun... |

Not much help, but there used to be an apple menu app called shutdown. I copied that into the startup items on one of my colleague's workstation. Along with a startup screen saying that there was a fatal error and all his hard drive would be erased with the only button possible to press saying, "erase". |
