Is it me or is GTA IV a moster of a game that uses a lot of hardware?

My computer specs are:

i7 oc to 3.2
6 MB DDR3 RAM
Ati 1GB 5870

and even with this computer I can not run the game any where near 100%

That should be enough to run it.
It used to run fine on a Q6600 IIRC

The 285 was a beast though.

What's slowing down in the game?

CPU bottleneck?

thats a good question....

everything upto date but when I go into the options etc I can only move the sliders a little way before it says you going out side the limits of the graphic card

all other games etc run at max and full everthing

I would say with the draw distace set at 20-25% everything else is set on 50-80%

the CPU watercolled i7 920 running at 3.2

Get that thing running at the 4GHz it should do

What res? I think a screen of that size could be the issue...

even @ "just" 3.2ghz - a 920 should be more than adequate.

I'm amazed you're even loading Windows with that amount. ;)

The GPU is pretty irrelevant - indoors it'll hit 60fps, but as soon as you get outside it loads all 4 cores almost to its limit. It is playable on my stock i7 920 though.

It also uses that Rockstar social thing which will tell you what updates are available. I don't remember, but GFWL may auto-patch???

As for unloading and re-loading. No, not much point.

Just uploaded the patch and got a better frame rate

I got detail on max with draw distance at 25 and the graphic card still in the green very close to changing colour

this is any good?
