Woot! I've been cramming for the past 4 days and I've finally reached the point where I know enough to put together my first iPhone app! Previously I was using the Interface Builder to put together the interface but I realised it was restricted in what was possible so I've been learning how to program it properly ![]() Will start (err... continue) work on my app tomorrow! I've got the communication bit sorted so it can get the info from the server I just didn't know how to display it. Yay ![]() |

Fracking woo! I went in to zoomer mode for the past 90 minutes and managed to get the framework of my app working! It starts at a search view where you can (in theory) enter an item code. The details of the item are then retrieved from the server as well as the stock levels at each of the depots. You then more to level 2 which contains a list of all the depots and a sub text of the qty of items. You click on a depot and it gives you the info about the depot such as manager name, postcode, tel no, etc... I then want to add a modal view to this so that you can bring up a map with directions of how to get to the depot from where you are now. All written in code using a navigation controller and various view controllers! Woop! Bed now... ![]() |

Yeah, all dev has to be done in XCode AFAIK. You have to register as an iPhone developer (free) and you can download it. It comes packaged with an iPhone simulator for simple testing. If you want to stick it onto an actual iPhone you have to pay the $100 to become a fully fledged iPhone developer. I've come to the language from Java (in terms of OO principles) and it's taken me around 2 or 3 weeks of first looking into Objective C and then iPhone dev to get to the point where I can write an intermediate app using standard interface stuff (i.e. not animations and my own graphics). |
