There's nothing to stop you or anyone else starting a PPC spin-off for Firefox. All you need is a foxy name and lots of time and knowledge. |

If you don't like Safari, there's still Camino 2 which still works on PowerPC Macs, and as far as I know isn't dropping PowerPC support any time soon. As Camino's built on the same underlying code as its Mozilla couisin, then it should behave in the same way as Firefox. I prefer Camino as it feels more like a Mac application to me, whereas Firefox has always felt like a Windows app, dunno why but it just doesn't feel right to me. Camino's pretty damn fast, and it also has built-in banner ad blocking and Flash blocking - without relying on plug-ins that can sometime break when the browser's updated. I've been using Camino as my main browser for 2 or 3 years now, no problems with it at all. |

Except that it's not Firefox that's dropping support for 10.4 it's the Gecko rendering engine which I presume Camino uses as well. Therefore whenever Camino moves to that version of Gecko it will also loose support for 10.4. |

Seeing as Gecko is open source, it would take some clever people to fork it and maintain it for PPC. Having said that, I think there is still Ubuntu for PPC, so as long as you drop Mac OS, you can take up a Linux variant... |

It has to be said though anyone still on OS 10.4 doesn't really sound like the kind of person who bothers to update things all that often anyway... Jon |

I'm on 10.4 using the latest Firefox, Safari, and Adobe CS4 (actually, I don't use it, I use CS3 for compatibility with next door, but it's installed). I would upgrade to Leopard, but I still need to use classic occasionally. |

And that is a major problem, I still see some apps which were never ported to OS X. They are few and far between, but for people who rely on them, they are the show stoppers. |
