OK, I'm currently running a 4870 (512MB).

I want a new card, and it must be either similar in performance or better than the 4870. It must also work with 'nix - I'm not sure what Nvidia drivers are like for Linux?

I'm quite interested in the benefits of having CUDA, particularly for F@H/BOINC. Budget is around £100, though I don't mind stretching it a bit.

£100 will get a 5770, no real difference to a 4870.

Best waiting till the next range of cards comes out.

Fin's right. £100 won't better a 4870 right now. In fact, I imagine it won't for a while yet.

Just brought one of these -Novatech GeForce GTX260 Sonic SLI 896MB DDR3 HDMI/Dual DVI PCI-Express - Retail although I paid £140 only 2 weeks ago and now it's £160..... (The model was in fact a Palit GTX260 Sonic 216SP when it came through the post).

I did watch a few on eBay and I would say the average sale was around £100, to around £110 for a twin cooler gainward etc.

I too had an Ati 4870 but the 1gb version which gave me a f@h ppd average of around 2,500, the 260 is now giving me an average of 7,000.
Edit – been watching 4870’s on ebay and they are going for around £80 - £90

My 4870 and now the 260 match each other gaming wise, 4870 is slightly better 3dMark03 while the 260 gave me a slightly higher 3dmark06.
