Hi all,
Can anyone point me in the direction of a good or really good backup software solution?
Machine to be backed up: XP Prof (shared folder supplies 6 people's data on the LAN) Backup Unit: HP SureStore DAT 320 USB External. Data: About 50 Gig, daily append jobs, weekly full jobs. The backup software that comes with it is rubbish and I want to investigate a better one.
Thanks/. W

I didn't think BackupExec would install on a Windows XP Prof. box. And assuming it does, wouldn't it use up a lot of system resources?
Thanks Sas.

Yeah I looked at that too before posting but it's a little misleading to say the least. It makes no differentiation between what systems it will run on and what systems it will backup. Will have to download a trial and see....
Thanks. D

We use BackupExec here on our servers.
It is fairly light - two of the servers have 1GB of memory and still manage to run the backups at a decent pace.

There's a free trial so you can make sure it works with the tape drive http://www.barracudaware.com/products/desktop-backupTapeware 7.0 although I've never used it http://www.brothersoft.com/tapeware-15859.html

Make sure you test the restores too.
