I think that it will do better than expected. There are plenty of pre orders already. Plus the iPad will have access to a huge app store which the original iPhone did not have.

If this is right then they could shift half a million in the first week http://brainstormtech.blogs.fortune.cnn ... 0-per-day/Also this does not count people waiting for the SIM card models which won't ship for another four weeks.

I suspect the bet is actually that there won't be 1 million of them available to ship to the shops by the deadline. I'm fairly sure they'll sell if they can make them but there are some rumours that the production line is bottlenecked by a problem with manufacturing the screens. Of course he's not saying that, he's making an obviously provocational play to get people to bet against him. I find the idea that there is a '72% chance' quite bizarre though, is he sure it's not 71%?

I think that the actual numbers that are sold will surprise us. If they sell less than a million in the first 74 days I will be very surprised. Some are already saying that it could decimate the netbook market. I would not go that far.

I do expect the iPad to sell better than the analysts and bookies expect. Maybe we could vote on sales for 2010?

With the odds at 8-1 against it's very, very tempting to make a 50 quid bet - then the winnings will cover the cost of an iPad...

Damn, should have made that bet... "Apple sold between 600,000 and 700,000 iPads during the tablet computer's first day of sales Saturday, Piper Jaffray analyst Gene Munster wrote in a note to investors..." http://blogs.forbes.com/velocity/2010/0 ... -saturday/That's a cool $300-350 million at least in revenues on day one. Not bad for something that's "...just a big iPod Touch" lol! Pete

So nearly did buy some Apple shares with my student loads back in the 'halcyon' days of Gil Amelio's leadership in the 90s. * files under 'decisions I wish I'd made' *

Along side those great mistakes about not signing the Beatles, or that the iPhone will not succeed because it does not have a keyboard.
