Not sure whether to post in hardware or software, so feel free to move it.

Basically, since the 10.6.3 update, my iSight's green "you are being filmed" LED is on. Continuously. It's a bit disconcerting. I've tried going into Photo Booth, and the camera icon looks slightly greyed-out, but is still clickable, and the countdown timer runs, before the screen turns white, but no picture is saved. I should probably add that where the live-preview normally is, it's just black. I've quit Skype, and any other obvious iSight using app. Any suggestions?

Don't do anything incriminating in front of the camera while 'they' are watching?

To quote some people on IRC

person1 is frightened of the winodw cleaners *Closes curtain*
person2: just stand there with your c**k in hand and say ive been waiting for you when he gets to your window

Replace window cleaner with Apple and window with iSight

(Yes, a restart might be an idea  )

I've done 3!

One for the install, one because of the iSight, then one just now because I've installed the latest version of Undercover, in case that was it. Should an iSight show up in System Profiler?

Yes, under USB I think

I've found it in System Profiler now. Nothing too interesting there. The LED is on from other user accounts besides mine, which may suggest it's an OS and not an application issue.

Massive PITA, I know, but thought about doing an Archive & Install?
iSight was the recipient of part of the 10.6.3 update, I'm wondering what it was about your set up that's made it go spoggly.

Before that, have you tried resetting the PROM (take battery out and hold power button thing)?

Just tried with no users logged in and it's still the same. Think I'll try resetting the SMC.

Oooh, just seen Ben's post. I'll try that next. I've not seen anything specifically related to 10.6.3, but have seen this.

Thanks Ben! either that or the shutdown bit of the SMC reset did it.
