So what do people think? I may ask for one for Christmas, very over priced for a mouse, but then again, looking at the rest of the market, perhaps it isn't...
And I don't like the fact it's wireless, I like my technology to have bundles of cables hanging about.

I do like the design and the technology they've packed into it though, may have to pop into an Apple store sometime and try it out...

I really like the idea. I didn't think much of the Mighty Mouse, but I'll probably go and have a play with one of these and see what I think.

My BT mouse is getting a bit long in the tooth (hah!), so I'm definitely in the market for one of these new jobbies.

It's a lot of wonga, but then the old mouse cost me £45 a few years ago. All that extra multitouch goodness looks very nice, and ought to be worth the money. We'll see if the bank balance will allow it for the SpendFest list this year.

I really didn't like the Mighty Mouse so I'll give this a try but I don't think I'll like it.

I like the tactile feedback when using a mouse and this has none.

With the essential difference that it's not circular and liable to rotate while you use it.

I actually find the wired mouse frustrating because occasionally the cable gets trapped just under the edge of the mouse while I work, stopping it from clicking. That's not an issue with the BT mouse I have, which I love. If you like I've "grown up" with the physical click from a mouse, I'm open to new ways of working. I found I adapted to the multitouch trackpad very easily, for example. I guess a lot of folk are also used to the gestures on their iPod touch or iPhone, too.

Think of it as a step towards a mouseless Apple world, like the way Microsoft has let Vista 2 work with touch screens.

Yeah, button clicks, whell clicks (when scrolling) and things like feeling the edge of the buttons so know where I am pressing without having to look etc...

I'll keep an open mind though until I try it.

I have a wired keyboard and a wireless mouse. It’s the only way I can get the two to cooperate on my desk. *thinks* How can I get that Very Big Desk from my parent’s house here, and will it fit?

I had a play with one of these in the Apple Store in London yesterday and I have to say I was mightily impressed.
It still has the clickable buttons (or edges would be a better description) as per the previous mouse. The multitouch gestures worked very well for scrolling around although I didn't have time to try any zoom type things.

Bought one today. Not too bad. Takes a bit of getting used to how slim it is but the scrolling works.
Will report back when I've used it fir a bit longer.

I want a wireless Apple keyboard, but I need the keypad, why don't they think serious users will want a wireless keyboard?

I loved the puck mouse...I used to hold it in the palm of my hand with the wire between my fingers then just flexed my fingers to click, it was the most comfortable mouse I have ever used.

I'm puzzled by that too. The previous gen (which I use) had one, and they do a wired one, so why the 'hole' in the range? Just seems odd.

On topic - I've had a magic mouse for about a week. It's very stylish and the 'click' is very positive if a little loud. The sharp side edges do feel a little unusual at first but I've got used to it already. It's very low profile - flatter than even laptop mice I've used. The new software and multitouch functions are great - I thought I'd miss not having a wheel but it only took an evening or so to become comfortable with the new method and having multidirectional scrolling and forward/back on the thing is very very useful. Under bootcamp you lose all that- it reverts to standard two button mouse. Driverts will presumably come with the windows 7 bootcamp update due fairly soon. having flat lengthwise runners makes is rather 'scrapey' when you move it side to side, I may have to dig out a mousemat.

Overall, I like it a lot. It's expensive for a mouse and somewhat 'specialised' but it does what it does very well, and some of the stuff it does you can't get with any other mouse on the market, as far as I know.

Oh - getting the software to work was a bit of a pain. If you have any other mouse driver software on your computer - MS, logitech, USB overdrive etc - it doesn't seem to install although it actually has. You have to uninstall any other mouse driver before it will appear. In my case, I already had uninstalled USB overdrive but it still didn't work so I had to download USB Overdrive again, install it, uninstall it then install the Apple software to get the right system prefs applet to appear.
