In tests AMD achieved an average 80.6 FPS in the game “Left4Dead 2” using a six screen configuration with one ATI Radeon HD 5870 Eyefinity 6 Edition card, 80.6 x (1920 x 1080 x 6) = 1.002 billion pixels per second

*swoon*

Wouldn't the cross hair be in the middle of a bezel with a six screen set up?

I read another 6 screen eyefinity review (playing Grid or something similar I think) and the bezel was in the way. It would be amazing with ultra thin (or no) bezel screens I guess. Maybe a 3 screen setup would still work well as the middle screen will be the focus point and extra width provided by the left and right screens.

The last office I worked in, we had 55 workstations with dual monitors. Only 4 machines in the company only had 1 monitor.

I currently run dual 24" displays and a laptop.

Wouldn't a 1 x 6 set-up provide a very false field of view? Surely it would be better to use a 2 x 3 set-up which would also ensure there were no issues with cross-hairs etc.

Yes, the 6 screen review I saw was 2 up 3 across. The middle still has a bezel running right through the middle of the field of view though.

Obviously the "solution" is then to go for a 3x3 system with 2 cards ;)
