Is anyone using Google Chrome web browser? I read an article today giving benchmark figures into how much quicker it is than IE and Firefox. Admittedly they were Google's own benchmarks but an independent test still put it ahead of the other browsers. I thought I'd give it a go then. TBH it does seem faster. A lot faster than my current browser at work (IE7 ![]() Funnily enough the colour scheme is blue matching our lovely forum too! |

Yes been using Chrome to a limited extent since it first came out. Its much faster in my opinion that anything else. Sadly its, currently, lacking the plug ins I rely on in FF. Its also got a bad habit of corrupting itself. ![]() |

It is faster with JavaScript sites, performance loading "normal" pages isn't that much better. |

I use Chrome and love it. I did a little review of Chrome 2 in the internet forum if you're interested in my opinions/findings. |

I find it extremely useful for when I need a browser quickly (to quickly search for something etc, since it launches in seconds). However, if I'm going for a full web session then I launch Firefox without fail. |

I've used it religiously since it came out and think it's the bees knees. Haven't even bothered installing firefox since formatting. Opera's still good for image-heavy sessions. You know like searching for images to edit, browsing photos online, porn... that sorta stuff. Chrome's windowing is a little bit too firefoxy. |

I'm gonna try it anyway, but anyone know of any downsides to Chrome with a netbook and mobile broadband? I kind of like things like Adblock etc, but Chrome would be ideal for the quick loading or whatever ![]() Resurrecting old threads FTW! ![]() ![]() |

As I said above, it doesn't load sites any quicker (or noticeably quicker), we are talking, at most, 10ths of a second difference between Chrome and Firefox or Internet Explorer... What is quicker is the JavaScript execution - although Safari is quicker still and Firefox 3.5 has closed the gap considerably. |

I actually find that IE8 is the faster browser on my PC! I've tried FF3.5, Chrome 2 and Opera. But I don't use IE8 on principle that its got more security holes than a collinder, and that you can't get stuff like ABP for it. |

If you are using a lot of Web Apps (Google Docs and the like), then it will save you a bit of time. You would need to visit several thousand "normal" sites in a sitting for it to make any significant difference. |

I just downloaded it. My first impressions are mixed. The install process is good. It's nice and clean and minimalist too which is good. But, and for me it's a big but... The actual application seems to be quite slow. Typing is not as quick, selecting things takes longer. Boxes appear slowly, and fades are jittery. ![]() |
