Hey all, Up until now for the past 2 years I've used a Netgear WGR614v9 router without any problem. However, in the last week or so something is messing up the wifi. Using wireless, sometimes it will be completely normal, but then accessing pages on the net will be painfully slow, or the device will drop the connection altogether (and refuse to re-connect). All devices that are connected via wire are working perfectly (lightning fast). I have tried changing wifi channel, but this only seems to offer a temporary fix (it all works swimmingly for about 2 minutes before the problem flares up again). Any idea how to fix this? TIA. ![]() |

A new wi-fi router in the area, which is using the same band? Or electrical interference? My router was working fine, but we had the power in the kitchen turned off, because we were renovating. When the kitchen was put in and the power turned on, I couldn't get any signal at all, if something in the kitchen was turned on and 1 bar (instead of 5) if everything was turned off! I move the router about 40cm to one side and it started working again. The problem is, the telephone port is next to the fuse box in the hall and backs onto the kitchen, there is so much RF around the device, I'm surprised I can get any signal at all! One of the reasons I've never liked wireless and have always used a wired connection, where possible. But I'm no longer living alone and running multiple ethernet cables all over the house isn't an option! |

Try doing a scan with netstumbler for other networks then set your channel to 3 away from them. |

What about using a homeHub system - at least you could "route" the connection to a better location for the Wi-Fi system |
