Hi,

OK, so I've just screwed up big time. I created a list of contacts in Lotus Sametime and forwarded them to a colleague. Actually it was the bosses boss, which makes it doubly bad!

He imported it, and asked if he should tick the "replace contacts list" box, and I said yes... I didn't hear him properly

Now he has lost his contacts and is not happy. At all.

I am I.Ming the helpdesk but was wondering if anyone, (Caz?) knows if there is a server side copy of the contacts that can be restored?

Anyone? Please?

Thanks,

John, (very possibly going to be unemployed soon)

I think it's stored on a server.

Oh, that's me out then, sorry. :(

EDIT: No possibility of restoring a back-up for the server? If it's that important...?

They will be backed up somewhere...Unless the company don't back-up that file systems...
We don't use Lotus, but I'm having a poke around :)

Is this of any help?
Clicky

Ben

EDIT: From info here, I get the impression that all contacts are stored in the vpuserinfo.nsf file, and this file stores everything for everybody...Still possibly to restore it, but would effect everyone else...

You'd have thinked, but speaking to the helpdesk guys is a job in itself. They are based in India...

Cheers mate.

Edit to add: Just seen the link, and I had already looked at that, but the contacts are stored on a server, not locally.

Update: Apparently the files are held both locally and on a server. I "spoke" (via Sametime) to a very nice man in America called Mike who was very helpful and said that if I did a search for a file called buddylist.xml I might be able to recover the data.

I did the search, and managed to recover at least some of the names... The boss person affected is being very understanding, and has told me not to worry about it, but I really hate screwing up.

Gah!
