I won't be bothering to install it... I haven't found a single app that doesn't work yet.

Looks like bit of a fail but you never know, they could sort it out. I may install it just to see what it's like but from the sound of that review, it probably isn't worth it.

Depends if it’s an air brick or not, I suppose.

I won't be installing it as my processor doesn't do hardware virtualization.

OK, I can't install it because...

so what, its an XP VM?

that BS, anyone who needs the functionality would know how set that up, why the hell are they making such a racket about it?

i guess its alright for free, but im sure i read somewhere it has no hardware acceleration, so old video games wont even work

It is aimed at business users - it isn't available on Home Premium.

It is designed to run legacy business applications.

The "fuss" is that it is a free licence of XP. If you set up a normal VM, you need to source a valid licence from somewhere...

I did have a play with it. There are some nice touches to it. I installed Office into XP Mode and the entries appeared on the Win7 Start Menu. Running the apps from here loads up the VM in the background and off it goes. There was an article (El Reg?) that notifications such as updates or out of date security software will appear on the Win7 notification area causing potential confusion.

i guess thats the upside. and ive read that itll be integrated into the Win7 GUI ie the apps running in XP mode will appear on the Win7 desktop, not a desktop in its own window, which i spose makes it better than a normal VM...
