Post subject: | Files for a bootable CD |
Hi, I've got a quick but fairly urgent question. I need to create a bootable CD but don't have Nero, etc so I can't use ISO files, and cannot install any software on the laptop I'm using at the moment. Does anyone know where I can download a set of files which I could just burn to a CD to make it bootable, or if that't even possible. Thanks, John. |

What do you need to make bootable? |

A CD, since these laptops don't have floppy drives, and I can't find the external USB floppy drive, (which I suspect my "colleague" who is pulling a sicky this week has locked in his draw). I'm trying to run the hard drive decryption software which normally comes on a floppy, but which I'm hoping will work if I can stick the files onto a bootable CD. |

is it EPHD by any chance? if so I'm not a hundred percent sure your method would work. Worth a go though... Basically you just need the boot image off of any bootable mefia, lthough if you are restricted in installing software on your pc/laptop then you will ave no means of extraction/burning. try Here its a modular bootdsk creator and may have the files seperate that you can use for your purposes. |

It's Guardian Edge 8.6 but I managed to borrow a USB drive last night, so I'll see how that goes. |

Final update. I used the USB floppy drive and ran the recover.exe /d option on the recover disk and Windows is now booting, so yay me! Re-encrypted the hard drive and the user is a happy bunny ![]() Thanks for all your help guys. |
