Hi all,

As explained in this thread CLICKY, I'm wanting to set up an LDAP server for my home network, users will get authenticated and possibly mount a copy of their home directories from the server. I have several questions:

1) How easy is it to set this up on OS X? (OS X being the client)
2) If I have a remote home directory can I still back ip up using Time Machine?
3) If I take my MacBook out of the network, can I use a local copy of my home directory?
4) I know the above is possible is OS X has and uses the /etc/nsswitch.conf file, does it have it and use it? If not, what is the alternative?

I need to know the answers in relation to both Leopard and Tiger (excluding Q2 for Tiger of course).

Any help/advice would be greatly appreciated :)

Ben
