Hi all, I'm wanting some sort of naming service for my home network, DNS is too basic and I'm not sure how long YP(NIS) and NIS+ are going to be around for (and how long people like Apple will support them for), so I have chosen to use LDAP based on functionality and also for the experience... Where do I start? I've got a litte experience with setting up YP clients with master and replicate server, I've got day-to-day knowledge of NIS+ usage, but no experience with LDAP. I'm installing it on OpenSolaris and will be using it to authenticate users on an OpenSolaris laptop, a MacBook and various VM's (probably Linux based), it will also be a host lookup too, to save me copying the /etc/hosts file around the systems when something is added or changed... Has anyone got experience? Or a simple guide to getting it up and running? Many thanks, Ben Related Mac thread here |

No....I've ordered a book from Amazon, my order got rejected because someone hacked into the sellers account, I've re-ordered the book, so will be looking at it again in a couple of weeks time I think... |

Someone must be looking out for me, my second order arrived ten days early I've only managed to read half the intro so far because work is busy. The purple one is off on holiday on Wednesday, so no chatting to her in the evenings |
