Hi all,
Sorry to dump this into the meeting place but I could do with some help ASAP.

My monitor randomly turned green when I was using it earlier. Now it wont go normal again..

Basically things I have tried:
Changing the Colour temp - checked 9300, 6500 and user, no help.
Changing the brightness.
Unplugged the DVI cable and plugged it in again (into the monitor, this made the screen go purple instead).
Switched the PC on and off.
Switched the monitor on and off.
Put the monitor onto a different PC (THE PICTURE WAS FINE!!!) and this was using the same power/DVI cable as at the moment.
Tried installing drivers, only to be told they were up to date.

So.. where to now?
The only thing I can think is perhaps reinstall the drivers I do have or try changing the slot on my Graphics card that the monitor is attached to. I should probably add that I have dual monitors and the second one is FINE.

Makes me think GPU. But it would be so random, I was just sitting using the PC (not fighting with it) and the change happened.

You tried the screen on another PC, could you try that other PCs screen on your machine?
It could be your GPU has gone screwy.

Only one output is making the monitor go strange then?

Have you tried plugging the second monitor into that output which makes the first screen go weird?

p.s. Hardware forum?

Yeah sounds like the gfx card, try reseating it and/or try it in a different slot (or different pc if available).

Yah hardware forum (but NOONE ever looks in there! :P) I was hoping this would resolve quickly because I really dont have time to be frigging around with it atm (still have exams over the next week or so to be concerntrating on).

Urmm, I just tried reinstalling the driver - and during the reinstall the screen appeared PERFECTLY for around 5 seconds, then reverted back to its purple hue.

So what to do now... is it possible a installation of an old driver might help instead of using the latest one?

You can roll back a driver in Windows.

If that doesn't help, there are apps available that clean all remnants on your existing gfx driver from the system.

I still think it's a seating or slot issue, I had a similar problem with an old matrox dual head card.

Yay! :D

Problems are part of the cost of ownership with a PC.

That is what makes them so endearing, frustrating, interesting and infuriating!

You just don't get the same quality of problems on a Mac, wheres the fun in that? ;) :P
