Am I right in thinking if I flash my 8800GTX Ultra with a standard 8800GTX BIOS it'll tri-sli with my other 2 8800GTX's Am interested in trying tri-sli before I turn the lot in to another folding farm |

I see no reason why it wouldn't work (although I've never actually done this). If it didn't work, surely you could just flash it back anyway? |

I always understood that the Ultra shared the same 128 Stream Processor, ram and memory bus as the GTX so in effect making them architecturally identical, they just run at different clock, stream and memory speeds? So with my thinking do you need to flash? |

Apparently there's different core voltages & memory latencies but they're just speed binned cards. Everywhere I read says you can't sli the different cards but I might have a go anyway |

I wouldn't have thought you could SLI different cards but the Ultra is just a higher binned and overclocked GTX. Also, with the flash you would essentially turn it in to a GTX anyway so then it wouldn't really be a different card. |

You could flash the 2 GTXs up to Ultras, and enjoy the higher clockspeeds... |

Not a possibility as the ultra has a higher core voltage & lower latency memory. It also has better VRM's to deal with the voltage needed for the speed increase. |

Yes a possibility Sas, Stuartpengs flashed his GTX up to an Ultra and it's worked fine ever since he did it... |

He had a GTX with the better memory then, which were rare, most had memory which did not like running up to Ultra speeds. I remember a very long thread about it on [H]ard forum. I think its some kind of special Qimonda or Samsung modules used on the Ultra. |

You could always buy a standard 8800GTX and post the Ultra to me, where it'll be well looked after ![]() ![]() |
