Anybody else having problems with iOS4?

Things that I've noticed / bugged me so far:

iPod stopped responding, if I paused, I couldn't resume and vice versa, I'd have to return to the home screen, then relaunch iPod app to start stop a podcast.

Sync stopped working, iTunes couldn't find my iPhone, although displayed the correct memory used, just as "unknown".

In both cases, switching the iPhone off and back on solved the problem.

(One thing that really shocked me was, I drove to Bremen last week and used the sat-nav for the first time. It took an hour and a half to get there and there was less than 20% battery left (it had been charging the whole day, before I left.)

I haven't experienced either of those but I have come across 2 other bugs.

First was the the iPod controls (when the phone is locked and in the background app bit at the bottom of the screen) stopped changing between play and pause. It would only show the play button whether the music was playing or not. It also didn't show the name of the song in the background app bit.

The second was that the accelerometer stopped working properly. I was playing Real Racing and paused a race half way through. Later I started playing Doodle Jump but it didn't take any input from the accelerometer so the guy just stayed in the middle of the screen jumping up and down. When I went back to Real Racing the race was still paused so I resumed it and the steering was then backwards! i.e. I steer the phone left and the car goes right.

I was only able to sort these problems out by restarting the phone. Nothing else worked.

None of the people I know personally that have upgraded their 3GS have had any problems with it.

I used to use GPS tracking on my old 3G and it used to level the battery in no time at all. GPS is an absolute power hog. You have to remember most satnavs have bigger batteries than a mobile phone yet they tend to have a charge lifetime of about 3-4 hours...

(edited for my appalling typing)

Yeah GPS kills my 3G.

I'm not going to do the iOS 4 update - I won't get a lot of the new features anyway, and quite a few people seem to be having problems with it.

Yeah, using the GPS on my Pony Ericsson also kills the battery. If I've been using it even just to get my present location I notice the drain is pretty huge. Today my phone went from 50% charge this morning to dead, after one Google Maps demo, 4 trips to Facebook and a missed call.

Are you sure that it was not that missed call that drained the battery? ;)

Still having problems. Plugging in the iPhone doesn't start iTunes, like it did in iPhone OS 3...

If I start iTunes, it says it can't sync due to an unknown error. Removing the iPhone from the cradle and putting it back in allows iTunes to sync without a problem - although photograph importing still launches automatically, when I plug the iPhone in... :?

You can change the preferences I think of what is installed. I have to edit the options on my iPods because my music collection is much larger than the capacity of the iPod. The same could be the case for the iPhone.

iTunes is set to start automatically when the iPhone is plugged in... Only it doesn't. :?
