Hi all,
After many times of talking about learning a scripting language other than Bash and quizzing people about what would be a good idea, I finally settled on Perl, bought myself a book (Learning Perl, A.K.A. the Llama book) and have read it.
I'm about to embark on my first Perl program. It's basically a translation of a Bash script I created a month or two ago. I'm going to need to use modules in this script, perhaps a few modules.
My question is, if I distribute my Perl program, what do I do about the modules? I want the script to be easy for novices, and hope that a GUI will follow that can be installed by anyone. I'm already thinking about an install script that will install the various components I have programmed, should this download and install the Perl modules? Should I distribute the modules with my script? Should I add a README with instructions for the user to download and install the modules themselves?
I'm not quite sure what the etiquette is here...
Thanks, Ben
