I'm currently on orange, chances are I will leave to find a better deal. However I may decide to get an iPhone and their deal is the best around at the moment.

The question is what is the iPhone like for coverage? One of the reasons I'm thinking of leaving is due to my TERRIBLE coverage on my LG Renoir, I think this is 50% the phone though. So what is the iPhone like in low signal areas?

Reports seem to vary.

Best to compare side by side in the area where you are. Do you know anyone with one near you?

Not on the same network :(

If I get one and the signal is pants is the a returns period. I know with T-mobile I had 7 days to return a phone for any reason.

My iPhone works in my cellar office and the cellar at work. My htc Touch Pro and the old Nokia I gave my girlfriend both get no signal down here. Same in the rest of the house, I get full signal on the iPhone, the Nokia only works when it is left on a window sill...

When it is docked / charging, it seems to boost power to get a better signal.

I've got an iPhone 3GS on Vodafone through work and the signal is far worse than the basic Nokia it replaced. I used to be able to speak anywhere in my house and most places at my work on the Nokia, on the iPhone it looses contact with the network quite often and the signal seems to fluctuate. A colleague had a slightly older model iPhone on O2 and in an area where my iPhone can't get a signal, his was fine. I don't know if this is due to the network or the iPhone version though.
