Oh dear. It seems the Palm Pre (or iPhone killer, as it was known) hasn't proved the lethal force the company had hoped, as it now seeks to find a buyer.

It was doomed for the last nine months or so. It was just a matter of time. It has been badly run for a number of years though with the break up into two divisions a few years ago.

Thing is the companies that could make a go of it have no need for Palm

HTC Have no need given heavy investment in Android/WM, same with Sony Ericsson and Motrolla are in Android now.

Samsung could benefit however as their android devices..... well they suck

The company that would benefit most would probably be Blackberry.

Actually.... Having re-read it I think it could benefit HTC the most

Owning the company means they own the patents, owning the patents means Apple are more restricted to special features of their iPhone that would other wise infringe said copyrights.

RIM would gain from the OS itself, HTC from the patents given the current Apple/HTC tit for tat patent war

Subject reads like an advert for the kind of service you’d get behind a skip, if the Viz Profanisaurus is anything to go by.

Apple could also buy it for the patents and sell the OS to RIM, and any other licenses necessary. Plus they have a pot load of cash doing nothing.

Apple wont buy it, they have no need for any of it so they are paying vadtly over the odds for patents

HTC arent tied to what they make so its in their interest

Yes but you would not be buying Palm as a going concern, it is a dying company and as such its value is very low plus in these economic times the values would be even lower.

Both Viz and MacUser are published by the same outfit, so you never know…
