Not happy with what is on offer iPhone case wise, I decided to make my own out of a Moleskine note book.

It looks a bit tatty, but it’s good camouflage. Here are some hastily taken pictures of it. It’s currently unfinished, and needs a bit more work to smarten up the inside, but it is perfectly functional.

Nice project!
You can also get your Moleskine notebooks printed with your own stuff - calendars etc.
A combination of both could be useful.
Any thoughts on a rev. 2.0 version?

Not yet, but I think I may have used the wrong one. This book had grids printed on each page - I thought, rather incorrectly, that the iPhone could continue this grid on the screen. In reality, the hole I had to make made this impractical as there wasn’t enough pattern around the phone to make it worth while.. As the paper was thinner, it was more fiddly to stick together (though it did get a well-thumbed look as a result).

A version 2 would use a plain paper book - the pages in those are much thicker and may respond better. It would certainly take less time to cut out.

It looks really cool Paul. Reminds me of a guy at uni who was bored at work (Halfords) and decided to make a wallet out of two bits of card and duck tape...It worked incredibly well!

If I get an iPad, I’ll get myself an A4 Moleskine and hollow that out.

I'm using an old sunglasses case for my phone.
