My googling skills are failing me, I'm trying to find out what make of piano Chuck Leavell played on Eric Clapton's Unplugged album.

Can anyone find anything for me please?

From what I've seen he tends to use either Yamaha or Young Chang pianos - I'll ask.

The reason is that on Thursday I happened to listen to that record (the version of Layla in particular) on a hi fi I was looking at in Harrods, and the piano part sounded better then any of the actual pianos that we heard in the room next door (mostly high end Roland Electrics) and a couple of Yamaha grand pianos.

That's the trick

In that case it was possibly a Bosendorfer Model 290 Imperial - Bray Studios had one and it's considered to be the best grand piano you can buy (and so it should be at around $180,000).

Yeah..... part of the reason the piano in the recording sounded better was because it wasn't a yamaha. This tends to help if you want a good piano sound. Quite why anyone would spend 30 grand on a crap sounding piano is completely beyond me.

Chuck's forgotten, but he thinks it might have been a Steinway.
