2 x 250 GB in my desktop 1 x 200 GB external
Of course that base ten, not binary. So it's really less than that. 652 GB to be precise.
EDIT
Technically I have 200 GB in my laptop too, but I don't count that as extra storage.

I've gone for the 1TB option but realistically I actually only use 250GB for actual live storage:
250GB Internal system drive 500GB Internal backup drive (TimeMachine) 250GB External backup drive (SuperDuper clone)
I suppose I've also got about 30GB of flash storage kicking around on various memory cards and USB key drives and there is a 40GB hard disk in my ancient G3 upstairs but it's living a happy retirement in its box so I don't really count that.

I've just realised that including old IDE drives and cards/sticks, I'm heading towards 3Tb

Aye, I only gave a rough estimate, the IDEs I do use as random external drives. This is annoying me know. It makes me realise how many bits and bobs I have laying around that I should get sold, from a 939 motherboard to a x1850... Let alone all the older kit...

I have about 5.5Tb in actual use, 3 on a server and about 2.5 on two Pcs. Not including the laptops, which don't really count. 1.5Tb in assurted usb drives
Use about half on the server at the moment, plus 500Gb recorded TV stored locally. A load of hard drives assorted between 80-250gig, retired until disposed of/given away/used.

That's ok, I only wanted to know how much people use and what they need. So far it is very inconclusive, very evenly spread out across the board. I am surprised to see so many external drives. I can understand having one, but two attached to a desktop? I would love to know that people with 15TB store on it, I can't really imagine... Also, if you have old bits laying around, build a server or nas. It will become useful again and you don't have to sell it for a song.

Don't even get me started. I have one of the old Abit BP7 Socket 370 boards that has 2 cpus on it that I picked up free from somewhere. Koli: Aye, external drives. I don't really use them much but I had so many small IDE drives laying around I got a USB connector so I could actually use them. Not for anything useful yet though. Like I said to my GF yesterday when she was asking why I was goint to put linux on an old laptop rather than chucking it I'd rather have a brick in the corner that works than just a brick in the corner.

Regarding using up Tbs, games alone these days can make short work of your storage, especially if it's SSD My God, I bet there are people with gigs of camera photos alone, never mind the backups of them, before you get to their music collection... It never used to be an issue, but everything's digital now, and HDDs will last for years. Consequently, you can justify buying that 1Tb(+) drive, and the laziness of storing absolutely bloody everything that builds up over the years I'd love a server or NAS but I don't have the room (smallest bedroom in the house, possibly the world), and I'd be struggling to justify one anyway On old IDEs, I'm the same as adidan, only I've got a bunch of caddys.

Just chuck it in cupboard somewhere, or under the stairs to live with shoes. They are not fussy at all. Mine lives in the living room by the telly but it is reasonably pretty Wavemaster case in silver...

1.07TB in the desktop 0.64TB in external storage 0.32TB in the laptop
So 2Tb or there abouts.
