Hey all. From the 'Tales of fail' thread I know it's not a major hardware thing but mine was a cheapish one and it didn't ever seem to want to work as a bios flashing tool. It was ok when I slipstreamed WXP SP2 onto the netbook and the general run of the mill things but would never want to work as a startup flash. Looking for a bargain drive that's versatile, any recommendations?

Head to a uni campus and nab one being given away?
Avoid Accenture, they gave me 64Mb last year (although it's big enough for presentations, Barclays Capital gave me 2Gb)

Now there's an idea. Not sure if I could do that without chatting up passing female uni students though.

Because I'm quite good at it. My GF wouldn't be so pleased.

Good price. I take it they work ok for you? I'm not too bothered about speed, just one that can do what I want it to.

Cheers Ern.
Just wondered if anyone had experience of ones that can be definitely made bootable. Mine couldn't (wouldn't take on the boot files for some reason) and I've heard some sandisk ones are hit and miss.

Work just fine - speed seems good and I've now put music on one and plugged it in to my cars USB port as a cheap MP3 player

Really. Cool, perhaps I shouldn't read too much into general intenet chatter. Play have 2x8GB Sandisk Cruzers for £15.99 although alot of reviews say they're pretty slow. A 16GB Gen 3 Kingston DataTraveller is going for £14.99 on Amazon, may pick one of those up TBH.

I've no idea if my Cruzers are slow or not, I just let them copy stuff in the background (they don't seem slow with 1gb files etc) Only annoying thing is the pulsating orange light , though the stick itself is quite neat and rubberised.

Where did you manage to get them for that price, or have the prices changed at Crucial?
